Reviews
It was my first time here. As a West Indian, I was happy to find a place that fused Caribbean foods. The food is absolutely to die for. The ambiance and the service was spot on...excellent even. I highly recommend this experience. Also, please try their Toffee Cake. It's delectable.
✺ Customer service: 9/10 - the lady sitting near the door was extremely kind and welcoming and they did a great job of responding to an email correspondence we had. Our server seemed less kind, but not rude
✺ Value/ food: 8.5/10 - I got the cod fish bake which was okay, but the rest of the food looked delicious!
✺ Glows: very kind host (or maybe owner, I'm unsure), good music, the restaurant did a great job of accommodating our large group, which ended up being smaller than expected at the end of the day, the drinks were delicious as well
✺ Lows: Our server could have appeared a little bit less annoyed, but she was not mean at all
- do keep in mind there is an auto gratuity, but it was about the amount we were going to tip anyways so it was not a problem.
We went as a party of 2 for the Saturday brunch. It was great. The food, service and music were all a vibe! The rum punch took me straight to Jamaica. Our server was amazing, she let us taste the piña colada because it was a little runny at the moment but the flavor didn’t miss. The star of the meal hands down were the catfish bites. It came with scotch bonnet & sweet chili sauce to dip but it was perfectly seasoned on its own.
Cute little spot to grab a quick brunch. Service was good. Rum punch actually taste like a rum punch which is a plus. Chicken was nicely seasoned, for me at least. My friend though it was a bit on the salty side. Waffles nice and light, not dense and heavy. You have the option of half and half or regular waffles. My other friend ordered the steak. He thought the portion was small because he was still hungry after he was done. Plus I think the steak was only able to be cooked medium or medium well because of the kind of steak if I’m not mistaken. Overall I don’t mind trying this place out again.
Some friends and I went here for brunch to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. They seated us quickly and we wound up having one of the outside booth structures to ourselves most of the time we were there (we had a child with us and the hostess recommended the booth so that the child wouldn’t be near other patrons that were smoking hookah etc). Our waitress Gia was lit - she made sure our bottomless Bellinis stayed bottomless and her and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. The food was so good - most of the table had chicken and waffles, and I got chicken and grits. Everything was well seasoned and came to the table at a good temperature. And their wings?! Baby!!! We’ve already decided we will be going here again soon!
Food was delicious. Had the catfish bites, red velvet waffles and the shrimp with grits. I asked them to fry my shrimp and they accommodated. The shrimp were a little over seasoned but mixed in with the grits they were great and I asked for the adjustment so that’s on me, but I think they should add in the fried option moving forward and just adjust the ingredients because it was the perfect texture and cooked well. The catfish comes with a side of pepper sauce. Very yummy.
We sat outside because the inside was completely booked. It was a complete Sunday brunch vibe with a DJ. The outside area has some sort of air blowing and speakers so you aren’t hot and you feel like you are apart of the turn up inside.
I had a coconut mango margarita, also not on the menu but they put it together and it was great!
I’m late with this post but, better late than never. I came here for black restaurant week in June was greeted by the waitress it was packed. I believe someone had a party when I was there. I didn’t have no reservations just simply did a walk-in. My friend and I had to wait a few minutes to get seated due to it being packed. So once we got seated we waited for the waitress to approach us what we wanted. It took her about 10-15 minutes to just get our drink order in. She finally came and took our drink order and we requested hookah and I ordered the jerk chicken. She came back with our drinks 15-20 minutes later. I kid you not my friend and I needed another round of drinks mind you we were trying to rush to order our drinks before the drink special ends at 7. She came and we were able to get the drink special just in time because I was looking at the time and it was 6:58 and she made sure we were able to pay the drink special menu price. The waitress also told me that the jerk chicken would take a while due to a lot of clients at this restaurant at that time which is not an issue long as you communicate with me. I am so glad I waited because the jerk chicken did not disappoint AT ALL!!! It was so flavorful and the seasoning was AMAZING!!! Taste buds were going through the roof!!!!! I also had fries with the jerk chicken. The hookah was wayyyyy too strong for me I could barely smoke it, it was so strong. I’m unsure what the waitress brought to my friend and I to sit the hookah on but it was pretty cool. It’s in the video posted.
Would I recommend yes for take out but for dine in no.
Food: 9/10
Service: 3/10
Hookah: 2/10
Listen to me when I say that Savvy is a TEN OUT OF TEN, Ok! Lavina & Julian’s service was amazing. They were attentive, kind, hospitable and knowledgeable of the menu. We came for Sunday brunch and EVERYTHING we ordered was fresh and flavorful… kudos to the chef! And the music and vibes were everything. I’ll definitely be returning.
